The Fort Pointer got to the Old State House 20 minutes before the annual reading of the Declaration of Independence this morning, on the 250th anniversary of that document, and found the area in front of the historic building already full of people on a sweltering hot day.

The commemorations actually started at 9 a.m., in Copley Square, where a parade began to march up Boylston and Tremont streets - with the Old State House the ultimate destination.
