Alice Murphy spotted this duck waddling down Commonwealth Avenue in the Back Bay today, but did not attempt to quack any jokes or ask if he were taking a break from Mrs. Mallard, because she didn't want to ruffle his feathers since he wasn't a sitting duck.

A man was sentenced to 16 to 20 years in state prison today after admitting to fatally shooting Xavier Barkon, 19, as Barkon sat in a car on Oak Hill Avenue off West Selden Street in Mattapan around 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 11, 2022, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

A federal judge who had earlier ordered Lexington schools to shield a self-professed Christian's young son from books that might be pro-LGBTQ said the father went too far in a request to keep his son away from two specific books that posit that boys can have tea parties and can put on pink smocks when baking and that girls can wear blue, play football and pretend to be pirates.
