State security regulators today charged that Scott Given of Wellesley, who claimed to have started the Croft School as a way to provide a quality private education at reduced costs, suckered parents into buying $8 million of unregulated bonds, which he used to pay off initial investors in a school he was running as a startup company - and was trying to raise even more from parents when the whole scheme collapsed after he forged a letter of credit from the school's main bank in an attempt to expand the school's South End operations this past spring.

Many are small outages - although not to the people going without AC - but 284 homes and businesses are powerless in South Boston's City Point, with another 204 without power in the area of D and Summer streets.

In what has become a routine, a Boston federal judge on Monday ordered ICE to immediately release an immigrant it had illegally grabbed and thrown into the Plymouth County jail. And by "immediate," US District Court Judge Julia Kobick meant by 6 p.m. that day.

In an order posted shortly after noon, a Boston federal judge today gave ICE until 6 p.m. to release a Dominican man they stuck in the Plymouth County jail because it was unable to provide any justification why it had grabbed him in the first place, except that it found a cell to put him in.
