Boston firefighters responded to 52 Erie St. near Greenwood Street in Dorchester after lightning hit the roof around 6:20 p.m.

The thunderstorm that rolled across Boston shortly before 6 p.m. knocked out power across the city. Eversource is now reporting more than 51,000 homes and businesses lost power. 

MSPCA looks for owner of South End snake
